of the most stunning locations around the UK. This year Snowdonia will again be home to some of these exciting sports events and here’s how you can get involved! “Dramatic races in beautiful places.” – Always Aim High.

North Wales is passionate about language, music, history and sport. It boasts some of the most spectacular scenery throughout the UK with magnificent landscapes brimming with castles, stately homes and gardens, and Snowdonia’s famous beaches, rivers, lakes, waterfalls and mountains are breath-taking locales for thrill seekers everywhere. Visitors can enjoy all kinds of fun activities from mountain biking to white water kayaking, rafting, sea kayaking, rock climbing, gorge walking, canyoning, coasteering, orienteering, paragliding and kite surfing to name just a few!

What’s unique about Wales is the fact that we’ve got everything in such a small radius. You can do it all here. You can do everything.

These kinds of endurance events have been gaining momentum over the years and are extremely popular today, with North Wales home to an incredible array of triathlons, mountain and trail races as well as cycling trails throughout the stunning mountains of Snowdonia.

  • Slateman Triathlon – Llanberis – 21 & 22nd May 2016

Swim surrounded by glorious mountains, bike a course across the heart of the Snowdonia National Park and run through an awesome slate quarry.

This race offers a unique mix of incredible scenery and a challenging atmosphere, delivered over two days with two tri options of the Slateman Sprint on Saturday and the Slateman Full on Sunday. The Slateman Triathlon is the first in the 2016 Adventure Triathlon Series, alongside the Sandman Tri and the Snowdonia Tri.

TOUGH: You have to be tough, or crazy, to tackle this whole Slateman weekend by completing the sprint and the full. If you can manage it though you’ll be dubbed a Slateman Savage and a bespoke t-shirt will be awarded to all finishers in recognition of their awesome achievement!   • Scott Snowdonia Trail Marathon – Llanberis – 24th of July 2016

Wales’ outdoor capital Llanberis is host to the Scott Snowdonia Trail Marathon, a real challenge ascending 525094_449537978439263_716341751_n1685m over 26 miles of spectacular trails.

This race circumnavigates and then climbs Wales’ highest peak, Snowdon. Exploring stunning trails, spectacular panoramic views and tough climbs that showcase why Snowdonia National Park is central to any outdoor enthusiast. Passing through Rhyd Ddu, Beddgelert, Nant Gwynant, Pen y Pass and Snowdon.

There’s also a half marathon available that takes in some of these wonderful trails, as well as Padarn Country Park in the heart of Dinorwig slate quarries.

  • The Legend Half Triathlon – Snowdonia, Capel-Curig – 30th of July 2016

This is a unique endurance triathlon experience, offering an unparalleled national park location and stunning single lap routes.

  • Snowdonia Triathlon Festival – Plas y Brenin, Capel Curig – 30th & 31st of July 2016

This festival weekend features four triathlon races: Snowdonia Triathlon Full, Sprint, Mini-Sprint and Legend Half.

Set in the breath-taking Snowdonia National Park, all of these races are set against some seriously stunning scenery. The swims take place in Llyn Mymbyr at the shores of Plas Y Brenin National Mountain Centre, and all four cycle routes trail and climb the best courses that Snowdonia National Park has to offer.

  • Sandman Triathlon – Newborough, Anglesey – 17th & 18th of September

The race is located in Newborough Forest, the start and finish set in an exclusive area within the 700ha woods adjacent to the beautiful Llanddwyn Beach.

The scenery surrounding this race is stunning and the event itself offers a great challenge for everyone regardless of his or her fitness level and experience! for the door there’s also the Snowdonia Etape Eryri on the 12th of June – one of the UK’s best cycling events taking you around the best roads, views and course climbs of the Snowdonia National Park and the Tour de Mon on the 21st of August – the cycle sportive that takes you around the beautiful island of Anglesey.
