Bryn Bella Guesthouse in Betws-y-Coed tops ‘Times' coolest Top 30 B&B's list

AN eco--friendly guesthouse in the Conwy Valley has topped a poll of Britain's Top 30 coolest B&Bs.

Bryn Bella Guesthouse in Betws-y-Coed came in at number seven in a recent newspaper poll which charted who they independently classed as Britain's coolest B&Bs.

"I think we came in so high because we are so eco-friendly,” said Bryn Bella owner Mark Edwards.

"It was still quite a surprise as we never knew anyone was assessing us, although we do recollect one visitor last month asking a lot of questions about how we run the guesthouse, but like with all our guests we were happy to divulge exactly how we work and help save the environment.”

In the poll the Times described the guesthouse as: "a five-bedroomed B&B in the Snowdonia National Park, with eco-friendly credentials, including solar power for heating and lighting. The owners also grow their own fruit and vegetables.”

Mark added: "We are delighted with the recognition and even had a booking off the back of the article. We have always been conscious of the environmental impact of the business on the area and have strived to minimise that.

"We encourage guests to make use of the public transport available and suggest walks and tours where using the car is not essential.

"Many guests find it quite refreshing to leave the car behind when they explore the national park.

"We recycle all our waste and have cut down our potential landfill waste dramatically over the past two years,” added Mark.

"And with such a large garden, which includes a small section of woodland, we are very big composters and by feeding our kitchen waste to our chickens we're always kept supplied with fresh eggs.”
