Carbon Footprint Awards 2011

Last Thursday saw Mark travel to London by train for the Carbon Footprint Awards 2011 and although Bryn Bella did not win the award they came very close and were awarded a highly commended as runner up. The award was presented by Tony Juniper. Tony Juniper is acampaigner, writer, sustainability adviserand a well-known British environmentalist.

"Fabulous work at Bryn Bella.. even to be shortlisted you have to be a best performer from all our membership”. Dawn Watson, Green Tourism Business Scheme

"Personally I am very pleased about the award and if nothing else it puts both Bryn Bella and Betws-y-Coed on the map as a sustainable destination. Many people were very interested in what we are achieving here, especially in Car Free Tourism, confirming you can have Sustainability and Quality in guest accommodation. Bryn Bella is a four star "Highly Commended” guest house under the AA grading scheme and this latest award places it in the top 10% of sustainable Tourist business in the UK. I hope that more businesses will take up the sustainability challenge and take a look at their processes and actions in the future.” Mark Edwards, Bryn Bella

Later this year Bryn Bella will be helping run workshops in the area together with the Green Tourism Business Scheme and Dr Emma Edwards-Jones of Green Snowdonia. It is hoped this will encourage more businesses to become involved.
