New Arrivals at Bryn Bella

By the time you next visit Bryn  Bella we will have taken delivery of six ex battery chickens recently rescued from a farm in  the area. Many of you know just how good the breakfasts are at Bryn Bella and this is helped by the ability to deliver our own eggs as fresh as can be from our very own chickens. Sadly over the extreme Winter weather we have just had we lost some of our older chickens but this gives us the chance to re home more lovely ex batts here in beautiful Betws-y-Coed.

We have been working with The British Hen Welfare Trust (formerly the Battery Hen Welfare Trust)  for many years now. It is a national charity that re-homes commercial laying hens, educates the public about how they can make a difference to hen welfare, and encourages support for the British egg industry. Its ultimate aim is to see consumers and food manufacturers buying only UK produced free range eggs, resulting in a strong British egg industry where all commercial laying hens enjoy a good quality life.  We think all laying hens deserve to enjoy natural freedoms whilst they lay tasty eggs for us to eat; that means freedom to roam, freedom to enjoy sunshine, freedom to scratch for insects and freedom to lay an egg in a nest.

We will keep you posted over the coming months so you can see just how well the new girls respond to some Bryn Bella Tender Loving Care. Before long they will be enjoying the sunshine and fresh air of Snowdonia. As their little feathers grow back they will start to readjust and you can taste for yourselves just how well they are doing at breakfast time every morning.

For more information on The British Hen Welfare Trust or if you are considering keeping chickens yourself why not visit their website at www.bhwt.org.uk where all your questions will be answered.
