Underground Adventure With Go Below
Nothing captures the drama of an adventure holiday here quite like heading underground. Go Below Underground Adventures runs trips into a working slate mine in the Nantmor valley. It’s a short drive from Bryn Bella. Their standard Challenge trip lasts around five hours and mixes an underground zip wire, a boat crossing and a waterfall scale. It suits anyone aged ten and over. Riders after something longer can book the fourteen hour Mine to Mountain trip instead. That route reaches the deepest publicly accessible point underground in the UK. It then finishes with a climb up Snowdon itself, so it’s reserved for confident adventurers aged fourteen and up. Mountain Biking at Antur Stiniog and Coed y Brenin
Mountain biking near Betws-y-Coed now means more than one trail centre. Antur Stiniog sits above Blaenau Ffestiniog, about twenty minutes from the village. It runs fourteen gravity fed trails, from green beginner routes through to black graded descents. Its uplift shuttle can get riders up to twenty runs in a single day. Saracen Myst downhill bikes are available to hire on site too. Further afield near Dolgellau, Coed y Brenin was one of the UK’s first purpose-built mountain bike centres. It still offers waymarked trails for every ability, from family friendly loops to technical singletrack. Zip Lines Above and Below Ground

From Surf Snowdonia to Adventure Parc
Water based adventure near Betws-y-Coed has changed more than anything else since 2016. Surf Snowdonia’s man-made surf lagoon in Dolgarrog closed permanently in September 2023. The site reopened in September 2025 under new ownership as Adventure Parc. It’s an indoor and outdoor activity centre now, without a surf lagoon.
