The Challenge Trip, on the other hand, is built for thrill-seekers. Expect a series of roped activities underground, including abseils, scrambles and zip lines, all designed to get your heart racing. Because it’s more physically demanding, this trip works best for those comfortable with heights and confined spaces.
What to expect on the day
Trips run daily throughout the year, with a maximum of eight people per group so everyone gets proper attention from their guide. Generally, the Challenge Trip runs in the morning and the Discovery Trip in the afternoon, though the exact schedule depends on demand. Go Below also arranges occasional full-day trips across multiple mines, shorter taster sessions and photography-focused outings for anyone wanting to capture the tunnels on camera. All specialist equipment, including helmets, lamps and safety gear, is provided, so you simply need to turn up ready for an adventure.
